About Jackie Matteson

With a background in education, Jackie has a passion for sales and helping people grow, and found that her passion applied to the hospitality industry was an opportunity to not only help develop sales professionals, but also the communities the hotels are in.

Jackie started her career in hospitality in 2010 with JQ Hammons Embassy Suites in Raleigh. She leveraged her deep background in education and passion for engaging people to quickly impact sales and revenue at Embassy Suites. Her quick success here brought her to WAM and their hotel network, with an office based out of Research Triangle Park of NC. The WAM Portfolio saw strong revenue growth under Jackie’s leadership.

During this time, Jackie developed a partnership with local radio station to raise money for “Bob’s Buddies,” a non-profit foundation for children with brain cancer. Local radio station G105 joined in with a live auction in the hotel raising over $7,000 for the cure. This mutual relationship focused on our local community also elevated the visibility and recognition of the hotel and its brand to serve the community.

In 2015, Jackie joined the Interstate team and then quickly was hired by Terrapin Hospitality as a Regional Director of Sales & Marketing, with responsibility for multiple hotels across the country. Here, she helped the hotels grow their sales teams. She was recruited to help other regions with heir sales force in hiring and teaching the new hires. With much success, Jackie quickly realized this was her calling and should help others in the industry to become successful.

As the industry has changed since COVID, we have noticed a decline in “quality Talent” and find ourselves stretched very thin within our hotels. She has a clear understanding of how to take even a “small baby bird and turn them into a Hawk” Her business model is simple, start with finding people who want to succeed, grow and be willing to listen to what it takes.
